The Department of Information Technology, SRM IST, Ramapuram campus, organized guest lecture on 22.01.2020. Third year students of IT Department took part in the event.

The session was chaired by DHIVAKAR. P DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER and TEJASWINI. P DIGITAL MARKETING ANALYST from golden advertising the knowledge shared was about creating e commerce and marketing the product through e commerce, session was also covered about SEO, SMO, PPC and ROI.
01.02.2020 SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON MS-OFFICE PACKAGES AND GOOGLE CLOUD APPLICATIONS

We the Department of Information Technology have conducted a 1 day skill development programme on “MS-OFFICE PACKAGES AND GOOGLE CLOUD APPLICATIONS” for SRMIST Non Teaching staff on 01/02/2020 at Programming Lab, 7th floor, New BMS Block. Session is handled by Mr.Paul, FACE Trainer and around 20 non teaching  staff from various department attended this programme.

01.02.2020 CLUB EVENT- Blockchain The Department of IT, SRM IST, Ramapuram organized a club event title called “Blockchain- an insight “at BMS block, 701 for second year students on (01.02.20).The session includes introduction to Block chain technology, components, Bitcoin network, Bitcoin mining, role of miners, current scenario of these networks, mining description and the career opportunities.

The working principle of the Blockchain network was demonstrated as a role play by four second year students IT students. The students were finding the session as interactive and useful. They assured that they will start learning about Blockchain technology.

The session was concluded with the feedbacks of Saturday club. Nishanth of first year IT student told that the event series of Project club of IT is much useful and interactive.
 5.2.2020 OUT REACH PROGRAM- Emerging Technologies in Information Technology

 Department of Information Technology organized an Outreach program titled “Emerging Technologies in Information Technology” on Wednesday 5th February, 2020 to the school students of Sacred Heart Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Padi, Chennai.
6.02.2020 & 7.02.2020 National Level Technical Workshop entitled “Computer Vision and Image Processing Algorithms” Workshop covered essential aspects of Controller Architecture, Python Programming and the real time sensor interfaces and IoT.  It updates the engineers with recent trends in Open CV and makes them comfortable on Image Processing Algorithms.  It provides platform to bring experts from Industry and academic institutions.  

The students enthusiastically participated in the workshop. They had hands on sessions and was highly interactive and informative. 
08.02.2020 ALUMNI INTERACTION

The Department of IT, SRM IST, Ramapuram conducted Alumni interaction on 08-02-2020 – AkshayNambiar (Batch 2012-2016). The students were given an in depth of information in placements, higher studies and his achievements. He also explained in detail about AIESEC.

The interaction also had a question session where he explained about many methods to achieve success, the insight of a corporate world and his commitment towards the job.

The students were enlightened with brief explanation of other job sectors and the current scenario of IT industry. The session was informative and interactive.

 As part of IGNITE 2020 – A Boot Camp for +2 students and Diploma Students, Department of Information Technology, SRM IST, Ramapuram Campus has conducted Live Sessions on “Engineering Information Technology”.

Mrs.R.M.Rani, HOD/IT started welcome address of Live session.

The following are the technical sessions handled under “Engineering Information Technology”.

Miss.M.Vinodhini and Mrs.M.K.Liza elaborated about various Information Technologies and the real time applications.

Mr.SivaMohan, Mr.Satheesh kumar and Mr.Shyam Karthik have explained the different Cyber Security attacks and shown a demo on Phishing attack.

Mrs.R.Mythili has discussed about Blockchain, an information security technology, applications,working principle and mentioned the uses of Blockchain in COVID-19.

Dr.R.Kavitha has explained the uses of Artificial Intelligence and real time applications especially for COVID-19.

Mr.J.Antony Vijay has handled the session on Internet of Things with sensor details and has shown an example app demo on Tinkercad.

Live Sessions were conducted from 10:00 AM to 1:20PM for +2 Students and diploma students took part in the Sessions. The sessions were very interesting and interactive too with videos and QUIZ included for all the sessions. Students actively took part in the interactive session and enthusiastically answered for QUIZ of each session.

27.05.2020 IGNITE 2020-Virtual workshop on Data science  , Big data and Learning python An introduction to data science was given  by Mr.Jayayasurya followed by Mr.Manish kumar , who explained about the concepts of big data.  A video on IT Tech trends’20 was done by Ms. Sangeetha.  A live practical session was done by Ms.Keerthana on learning python.  Ms.Vinodhini carried on the session with the hottest fields in computer science. And then , there was an interactive session which was hosted by Ms.Abinayaa and Ms. Sangeetha to clarify the doubts raised by the participants. 29.05.2020   Workshop – IGNITE 2020-CYBERSECURITY AND ETHICAL HACKING WORKSHOP An introduction to CYBER SECURITY was given  by Mr.S.Siva mohan followed by Mr. S.Satheesh kumar , who explained about the concepts of Ethical Hacking.  A live practical session was done by V.B.Shyam Karthik on Ethical Hacking. And then , there was an interactive session which was hosted by Mr.S.Sivamoham, Ms.B.Sathyabama, Mr.S.Satheesh kumar and V.B.Shyam karthik who Clarified the doubts raised by the participants. The workshop was ended  by the Vote of Thanks given by Ms. B.Sathyabama  faculty coordinator.

 Faculty Industry Training Program on Emerging Trends and Scope in Data Science The Department of Information Technology in association with 360DigiTMG has organized a Faculty Industry Training Program of about 10-days titled “Emerging Trends and Scope in Data Science”, everyday from 2pm to 4pm through Zoom virtual platform  for the benefit of Faculties and Researchers on the topic of interest, hence to enhance and update their relevant skills to match with industry standards.

Mrs.R.M.Rani, HOD/IT is the Convener of the Event and Mrs.R. MythiliAP/IT, Miss.B. SathyaBama AP/IT are organizing the training, which is to be held from 23rd November to 4th December 2020 (excluding weekends).

Mr. Mr.Jishnu spoke on “IoT at a glance” and highlighted the scope of the topics, its applications, future impact and spoke about several courses and job opportunities in that area. The session had an interactive QA session wherein the students quizzed him on several issues ranging from the basics, technology aspects of IoT, applications to a common man. Discussions regarding the future of IoT in India and abroad took place between the students and the speaker. Queries were regarding the involving of devices in IoT like sensors, network, and connectivity and so on.

27.05.2020 IGNITE 2020-Virtual workshop on Data science  , Big data and Learning python An introduction to data science was given  by Mr.Jayayasurya followed by Mr.Manish kumar , who explained about the concepts of big data.  A video on IT Tech trends’20 was done by Ms. Sangeetha.  A live practical session was done by Ms.Keerthana on learning python.  Ms.Vinodhini carried on the session with the hottest fields in computer science. And then , there was an interactive session which was hosted by Ms.Abinayaa and Ms. Sangeetha to clarify the doubts raised by the participants. 29.05.2020   Workshop – IGNITE 2020-CYBERSECURITY AND ETHICAL HACKING WORKSHOP An introduction to CYBER SECURITY was given  by Mr.S.Siva mohan followed by Mr. S.Satheesh kumar , who explained about the concepts of Ethical Hacking.  A live practical session was done by V.B.Shyam Karthik on Ethical Hacking. And then , there was an interactive session which was hosted by Mr.S.Sivamoham, Ms.B.Sathyabama, Mr.S.Satheesh kumar and V.B.Shyam karthik who Clarified the doubts raised by the participants. The workshop was ended  by the Vote of Thanks given by Ms. B.Sathyabama  faculty coordinator.

 Faculty Industry Training Program on Emerging Trends and Scope in Data Science The Department of Information Technology in association with 360DigiTMG has organized a Faculty Industry Training Program of about 10-days titled “Emerging Trends and Scope in Data Science”, everyday from 2pm to 4pm through Zoom virtual platform  for the benefit of Faculties and Researchers on the topic of interest, hence to enhance and update their relevant skills to match with industry standards.

Mrs.R.M.Rani, HOD/IT is the Convener of the Event and Mrs.R. MythiliAP/IT, Miss.B. SathyaBama AP/IT are organizing the training, which is to be held from 23rd November to 4th December 2020 (excluding weekends).

Mr. Mr.Jishnu spoke on “IoT at a glance” and highlighted the scope of the topics, its applications, future impact and spoke about several courses and job opportunities in that area. The session had an interactive QA session wherein the students quizzed him on several issues ranging from the basics, technology aspects of IoT, applications to a common man. Discussions regarding the future of IoT in India and abroad took place between the students and the speaker. Queries were regarding the involving of devices in IoT like sensors, network, and connectivity and so on.
