INDUSTRIAL VISIT:

The Department has organized an Industrial Visit for the II year students who visited “Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd”, East Tambaram on 22/08/2019

The Department has organized an Industrial Visit for the III year students who visited “”, XCEL CORP, Ambattur on 23/08/2019
The Department of Information Technology organized an Industrial visit to ISRO on 26.02.2019 for the third year students. The students visited the control center and viewed the launch pad 1 & 2. A video presentation of the working of ISRO was demonstrated to the sudents.


The Department has organized an Industrial Visit for the second year students who visited “Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd”, East Tambaram on 20th & 21st of August, 2018.


ALUMNI- STUDENT INTERACTION:
The alumni interaction, without doubt was agreeably a wonderful opportunity for the second year students of the batch 2018-2022 to get a glimpse into the Semester abroad programme and work life which was shared by Mr.Farag.
It produced in them a desire to excel in the changes to come for them in the upcoming Future.

JOURNAL CLUB:
IT dept has organized Journal Club Meeting for the Faculties and Students Through this club several ideas are being shared by the students & Faculty members. This drives both the faculty and student members to focus more on research & Project development.


FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (Thursday)


Mr.Sivamohan conducted a FDP on the Keynote of “Hardware Troubleshooting & Data Privacy” on 24.01.2019 which includes topics like how to speed up and Reboot Windows OS, the procedure to scan for Malware, Spyware & Virus was explained step by step with a working example.
Mr.Veeramani conducted a FDP on the subject of “Electroceuticals Could Help You Heal Faster” on 31.01.2019 where the content of the FDP is as follows, Electricity helps the heart beat, the muscles twitch, and the body communicate with the brain. Now scientists are increasingly using electricity to promote healing & new “electroceutical” devices are easier to wear, and some can even biodegrade inside the body. A few designs that could someday aid patients in recovery such as Biodegradable Implant, Electric Bandage were discussed during the session.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (Thursday)
Mrs. Noor Alleema conducted a FDP on the Keynote of “Holographic smartphones” on 14.02.2019 which includes topics like Smart beam, Dolfi, Plume and described about the Motiv’s Fitness tracking Ring.


Mr.Rajkumar conducted a FDP on the subject of Mind Testing on 21.02.2019.


SATURDAY CLUB EVENTS
The Department of Information Technology conducted a Skill Development program on 2/2/2019. In this Skype interaction session, the students interacted with the alumni student Mr.Ranjith who has gone to Institute de superiruer de informatique college, Canada for higher studies(MS- Computer networks and security). He gave a detailed information about how to apply and what are the steps to take admission in the foreign universities. He also shared the perks of studying there and job opportunities.

Department of IT conducted a seminar on the subject of WEB PROGRAMMING on 16/2/19 as a part of a Project club event. Students had learned the fundamentals of web programming with its special features, advantages, disadvantages along with basic coding of HTML .They were given the practical training too using SUBLINE TEXT. All the students were instructed on the specifics of programming and also the importance of the web in today’s world.

Department of IT conducted a seminar on the subject of Blockchain on 16/03/19 as a part of a Project club event. Students had learned the fundamentals of blockchain with its special features, advantages, disadvantages along with basic of blockchain. Allthe students were instructed on the specifics of programming &also the importance of the blockchain in today’s world.

Department of IT conducted a seminar on 23/03/19 on the subject of Hacking. The event was about basics of hacking, types of hackers, and few positive applications of hacking. The students were really benefited by this seminar about hacking.

Department of Information Technology have conducted a 1 day skill development programme on “MS-OFFICE PACKAGES AND GOOGLE CLOUD APPLICATIONS” for SRMIST Non Teaching staff on 01/02/2020 at Programming Lab, 7th floor, New BMS Block. Session is handled by Mr.Paul, FACE Trainer and around 20 non teaching staff from various department attended this programme.

OUTREACH PROGRAMME
The Department of IT has successfully organized an Outreach Program on 27.02.2019 in SBIOA Model Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair West, Ch – 37. The students were informed about the emerging trends in the IT field and the Courses, Placements, Facilities and Discipline available in the SRM IST, Ramapuram Campus. Events like Quiz and Talent show were conducted for the students who were entertained and also inferred knowledge. The promotional video of our department was also shown for the students.

OUTREACH PROGRAMME
Department of Information Technology organized an Outreach program titled “Emerging Technologies in Information Technology” on Wednesday 5th February, 2020 to the school students of Sacred Heart Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Padi, Chennai.
Students were explained about the various growing fields in Information Technology like Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT, Data Science and Big Data through this program.
