A woman is an epitome of beauty, wisdom and care. The best way to change the society and the underlying issues is to channelize the power of woman in every walk of life. International Women’s Day celebrates the power of women –their rights and role in our lives and society.
Department of Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram organized a guest lecture by Dr. R. Buvana, Chief Community Development Officer, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, on the topic “Women Empowerment” on 10th March 2020. She said that Empowerment of women would mean equipping women to be economically independent, self-reliant, and having positive esteem to enable them to face any difficult situation. The empowered women should be able to participate in the process of decision-making.
As part of women’s day celebration various competitions like cooking without fire, art from waste & jewellery making competitions were conducted for II B.Sc students. Fun games were also conducted for faculty members. Prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guest. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. S. Poongothai, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics.
