About the Department
The department of Mathematics pursues the philosophy of “carrying out education and research on Mathematics that serves as the foundation for various sciences, as well as development of science and society”. The Department of Mathematics established in the year 2004, has a large vibrant intellectual community. The 43 academic faculty members in the department are actively involved in research, teaching, learning and public outreach. The faculty members of the department are actively participating in research and development activities. The Department has a cohesive group of faculty members in the fields of Analysis, Differential Equations, Fluid Dynamics, Fuzzy set theory, Graph theory, Reliability theory, Rough set theory and are actively engaged in wide-ranging areas of research in Mathematics and allied subjects. 25 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. under the guidance of our faculty members. The Department strives to provide excellent teaching, encourage interdisciplinary research and service to students. The students are groomed academically, under careful personal monitoring by the faculty members.

About the program
The Virtual International Faculty Development program “Frontiers of Mathematics” to be organized by the Department of Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram campus, Chennai, India in collaboration with “1 Decembrie 1918 University” of AlbaIulia, Romania; is aiming to provide a platform to discuss latest trends, techniques and innovative ideas in various fields of Mathematics and its applications. This FDP is contemplated with an aim to explore the basic dimensions of Mathematical research and the outcome of the programme is expected to bring out a healthy enhancement in academic and intellectual environment. It is designed to impart knowledge on latest tools and techniques, as well as the latest trends and innovative ideas in the field of Mathematics and its applications. Eminent resource persons from academia and industry are being invited as resource persons, to have a fruitful discussion and to share the knowledge among participants.
