Mathematics is very important for data science as concepts within Mathematics aid in identifying patterns and assists in creating algorithms. The understanding of various notions of Statistics and probability theory are key for the implementation of such algorithms in data science.
To keep abreast with the current technology, the Department of Mathematics, SRM IST Ramapuram organized a webinar on the topic ”Why Math is important for Data Science?” on 14.06.2020. Mr. Ravi Shankar Subramaniyan, Principal Data Scientist, ITC Infotech, Bangalore was the resource person.
More than 150 faculty members and research scholars from various parts of India participated in the webinar. There was an interesting interactive session conducted at the end of the programme.
Participants appreciated the department, for inviting an industry person who is basically mathematician to speak about the subject.
