2nd National Conference on Recent trends in Fuzzy Mathematics and its Applications (NCRTFMA – 2018)
Since its inception in 1965, the theory of Fuzzy Mathematics has advanced in a variety of ways and in many disciplines. Over these fifty two years, interest in the field of Fuzzy Mathematics has grown exponentially, bringing some new theoretical advances and many practical applications of Fuzzy Mathematical tools. Applications of this theory can be found in artificial intelligence, computer science, medicine, control engineering, decision theory, expert systems, logic, management science, operations research, pattern recognition, robotics, automobiles, defence and security, medicine and biomedical fields, internet and computer security, consumer electronics etc.
The Department of Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram has organized 2nd National Conference on “Recent trends in Fuzzy Mathematics and its Applications” (NCRTFMA – 2018) on 26th and 27th October 2018. The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading academic scientists, experts from industry and young researchers and provide a platform for discussion on recent advances and developments in Fuzzy Mathematics and its Applications.
The conference commenced on 26th October 2018 at 9.30 A.M with the inaugural function by invocation and lighting of kuthuvilakku. Dr. ShakeelaSathish, Head of the Department and Convener of the conference, welcomed the gathering and emphasized about the conference. After releasing the conference proceedings, Chief Guest, Dr.D. Datta, Head, Radiological Physics & Advisory Division of Health, Safety & Environment Group, BARC, Mumbai, delivered his inaugural address. He said that learning and decision making gives implementation. Fuzzy Mathematics must be made a learning and implementation tool. He encouraged the mathematicians to develop deep Fuzzy model and discussed the domains where Fuzzy mathematics is applied.
Dr. V. Subbiah Bharathi, Dean (E&T) in his Presidential address congratulated the Department of Mathematics in organizing the conference. He said that Mathematics is the basic fabrication of Engineering and Technology. He wished the conference to be a grand success.
The first invited talk of the day was given by Dr. D. Datta. He shared the ideas of Multi Criteria Decision Making and Spatial Multi Criteria Decision Analysis. Fuzzy numbers for Linguistic Hedges was discussed through Performance Index Algorithm. TOPSIS method, Separation and Similarity relation between two Fuzzy numbers, comparing the negative and positive extreme solutions from Evaluation Rating were interpreted and Dr. Datta concluded his speech with the future scope of the topic.
The session continued with the invited talk by Dr. Snehashish Chakraverty, Professor in Mathematics, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He explained about the proposed method for fully Fuzzy system of linear equations (converted to LPP). Numerical methods for Fuzzy Differential Equations, Linear and Non – linear Shallow water wave equations were outlined.
The afternoon session began with the invited talk by Dr. Sunny Kuriakose, Professor and Dean, Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Kerala. He discussed the definitions of Fuzzy Set, Fuzzy logics, Intuitionistic Fuzzy set, Intuitionistic Fuzzy logic, Rough set, Neutrosophic set and Multifuzzy set. Further, Applications of fuzzy set, Decision making model, Inclusion degree were expounded.
Paper Presentation by participants from various colleges commenced in the afternoon session of the day. Nearly 50 faculty members and research scholars from various Institutions made their active participation in the conference and presented their papers.
The second day of the conference began with the invited talk by Dr. V. Dhanalakshmi, Assistant Professor in Mathematics, Stella Maris College. She elucidated the concepts ofchoquet integral, Fuzzy numbers, Octagonal Fuzzy numbers and ranking methods. The session continued with the invited talk by Dr.Lakshmana Gomathi Nayagam, Associate Professor in Mathematics, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. He discussed about the Multi Criteria Decision Making(MCDM), Defuzzification, Fuzzy numbers by new crisp scores, Approximation of Fuzzy Numbers by triangular Fuzzy numbers. Concepts of parabolic Fuzzy numbers, L – R Fuzzy numbers, weighted function, Distance function were then interpreted.
The next invited talk was given by Dr. K. Ganesan, Professor in Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. He discussed about the Interval numbers in modeling of an uncertain data and new interval arithmetic proposed by the speaker was explained. Paper Presentations were held during the second day of the conference. During the Valedictory Function, Dr. V. SubbiahBharathi, Dean (E&T) appreciated and encouraged the department to conduct such conferences in future. Dr. Sunny Kuriakose and Dr. K. Ganesan encouraged the organizers for conducting such conferences in future.
Mr. M. Kannan, one of the Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. The conference was a great success where the participants were benefited by the discussions held at the fruitful and enriching technical sessions. Faculty members and research students from various institutions were benefited from this conference.
