National Conference on “Progress in Mathematics towards Industrial Applications” (NCPMTIA- 2019)
The National conference on “Progress in Mathematics towards Industrial Applications” organized by the Department of Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram campus, on 27th and 28th September 2019; was aimed to promote interaction between academy and industry, leading to innovation in both fields and providing unique opportunity to discuss the latest ideas, problems and methodologies, and contributing to the advancement of science and technology to benefit the society.
The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading academic scientists, experts from industry and young researchers and provide a platform in which significant advances in Mathematics are presented & widespread discussions are held to promote the use of innovative Mathematics in industry. More than 100 participants from various institutions were participated in this conference. Nearly 120 papers were received. Out of that selected 80 papers were presented in the conference.
The conference commenced on 27th September 2019 at 9.30 A.M with the inaugural function by invocation and lighting of the lamp. Dr. Shakeela Sathish, Head of the Department and Convener of the conference, welcomed the gathering. After releasing the conference proceedings, Chief Guest, Dr. D. Datta, Head, Radiological Physics & Advisory Division of Health, Safety & Environment Group, BARC, Mumbai, delivered his inaugural address.
Dean (E&T) in his presidential address said many areas in academia and industry depend on mathematical sciences to open up new frontiers and advance discovery. He congratulated the Department for organizing the conference.

Ganesan, Professor in Mathematics, SRM IST, Kattankulathur in his valedictory address congratulated the Department of Mathematics for continuously organizing such conferences which gives confidence to young researches and thereby acting as a platform in exchanging the ideas with others. The conference was a great success where the participants were benefited by the discussions held at the fruitful and enriching technical sessions. Faculty members and research students from various institutions were benefited from this conference.
