VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WITH WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

organized Virtual Workshop on Science and Technology for “Sustainable development with Women Empowerment” in association with “Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA)” Chennai Chapter on 26th of February 2021 through ZOOM Platform
Dean(E & T) ,SRM IST, Ramapuram delivered the welcome address and Dr. L. Sudha, Professor and Head, Department of Physics and also the convener of the workshop gave an overview about the workshop.
Dr. S. V. Kasmir Raja, Convener, Indian Science Congress Association, Chennai Chapter delivered the Presidential address.
Dr. Seema Vinayak, Scientist ‘H’, Director, Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), Defence Research and Deveopment Organization, Ministry of Defence (DRDO), Government of India, New Delhi explained about the equality and the opportunity for women in the Organizations/ Institutions . She also explained about the recent technological developments materialized in the field of Solid State Physics in defence research. She discussed about the ongoing research in the field of missile usage with the SSPL model for defence applications.
Dr.R.M.Rani, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology introduced
Dr. N. Rajamaheswari, MD., DGO., MCh., (Urology), Consultant Urogynaecologist, Urogynaecology Research Centre, Chennai, President – Urogynaecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Society of India (URPSSI). She explained about the basic problems in women’s health in her day to day life and also shared some solutions for that. She gave awareness about the Cervical Cancer.
We have received 160 participants. The participants for the above two sessions include girl students, women faculty members and research Scholars of SRM IST and various other universities and institutions. A good feedback was received from the participants.
Three competitions Essay writing, E-Poster and Poem Writing were conducted for the girls of SRM IST and also other college students. We have received overwhelming responses for all the three events.
In the valedictory session, we have announced the prize winners of all the competitions.
