Dr (Mrs) Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is the second women Secretary General of the Association in its 97 years of existence. Prior to joining AIU, she has been serving the higher education sector especially university education for more than 03 decades at the apex regulator of higher education, the University Grants Commission of India. Dr. (Mrs) Pankaj Mittal is a Fulbright Scholar and has been a topper in MSc and PhD in Agricultural Statistics from IARI, New Delhi. She has a wide ranging experience of more than three decades in Higher Education in Policy Planning and Management of Higher Education. She is also Chief Commissioner (Guides) of Bharat Scouts and Guides. Dr Mittal earlier served as the first regular Vice Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur, the first rural women university of North India, in 2008, at a young age of 44 years , to undertake an onerous task of developing a tiny Gurukul into an institution of repute. Dr Mittal introduced a series of innovative practices and reforms as the Vice Chancellor of the only rural, residential, multi-faculty, women state university of the country imparting education to 7000 girls from KG till PhD level in a holistic manner. During her stint as Vice Chancellor, Dr Mittal transformed the Gurukul into a university which is now on the international map. Her contributions in Institution Building coupled with blending of traditional and modern education is an exemplary contribution towards promotion of rural women folk in a unique manner. Dr Mittal has visited a number of countries like USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico, China, South Korea, Spain, Germany, South Africa, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mauritius and Philippines to name a few, for academic purposes for presenting papers in international conferences and for academic exchanges on behalf of UGC, AIU and the university. Dr Mittal had led a delegation of 15 Vice Chancellors to UK for academic collaborations. Dr Mittal is also the recipient of following Awards and Honours:
• Fulbright Nehru Scholarship grant for Educational administrators
• President of India Award in 2017 for Digital Initiatives in Higher education
• Honorary Doctorate-D. Litt. (HonorisCausa) from Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur, Karnataka
• First Padam Shri Subhashini Devi Award 2018 for contributions in Societal Development and Community Engagement from the Chief Minister of Haryana.
• Qimpro Gold Standard Award for leadership in Education for the year 2018
Dr.Kalpana Gopalan IAS is a composite public policy professional. A true versatilist, she wears many hats- practitioner, policy-maker, scholar, author, volunteer and mother. She entered the Indian Administrative Service in 1987, securing the 19thrank in the All India Combined Civil Service Examination, and reaching the Apex scale of Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka. Her 35-year public service experience spans youth empowerment, training, education, sports, land administration, energy, handicrafts, rural development, urban management, public distribution system, labour and public grievance redressal.
Dr. Kalpana is nominated as Senior Advisor-India (Honorary, Lifetime): National Council of News & Broadcasting: International Media Advisory Council (2022). She is a recipient of the Mother Theresa Women Empowerment Award for “outstanding contribution to excellence in leadership”, the International Human Rights Award under the Women of Courage category (2019), the Sexy-Brilliant Covid Leadership Award, the Social Activist Pratibha Samman, the SAARC Nations Human Rights Association Award, the Inspiring Changemaker Giving Economy Award, the Bhavishya Ke Shilpkar Award, Thought Leader Certification of Dr.GSK Social Labs (2020) the Genesin Outstanding Pathway to Governance Leadership Award (2021) the Woman of Excellence Award of Woman Power-A Global Movement (2022) the APAC Educational Leadership Award, the Pillars of Society Award, the Mahatma Gandhi Award for Exemplary Contribution to Society and the Moulder of Young Minds Commendation (2022). She is a LinkedIn Wonder Woman and Inspirational Leader (2020). She was felicitated and awarded citations and commendations by the National Social Scheme Karnataka, Bangalore University, NITTE University, Yenepoya University, Mysore University, IJASRW (2020), Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Visvesvarayya Institute of Technology, WeLEED-Empowering Women’s Growth, Gulbarga University, Jain University, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Acharya Institutions, Melkote Academy of Sanskrit, Sheshadripuram Trust, SJES Institutions (2019),Honorary Consul, Republic of Maldives (2015) and Institution of Engineers of India (2013). She is Advisor, Bangalore City Corporation; Honorary Consultant, Administrative Training Institute, Mysore; Member, Advisory Committee, Public Sector Advisory, Grant Thornton LLP; and Member Advisory Board, Government Blockchain Association India. Her contribution as the first District Collector of Udupi district in 1997 was recognized and felicitated by the citizens of Udupi on the occasion district silver jubilee in 2022.
Dr Gopalakrishnan (Gopi) Balasubramanian, co-founded Xeed Q GmbH intending to make quantum computing affordable and accessible for early adopters and technopreneurs.
Gopi’s scientific and technical expertise in diamond spin-based quantum systems spans about 16+ years. Gopi arrived in Germany, with a PhD in Physics, from the Indian Institute of S cience, Bangalore, India to work with worldrenowned scientists Prof. Wrachtrup and Prof. Jelezko at the University of Stuttgart. Since 2006, having spent various research leadership roles at the Max-Planck institute –
Göttingen, University of Stuttgart and Helmholtz institute-Dresden, Gopi made pioneering
contributions to the field of quantum sensing at its forefront.
This includes authoring high-profile publications, securing prestigious grants, collaborating
with top groups and co-authoring publications with Nobel laureates.
In his current role as the CEO of XeedQ, Gopi has used this experience in leadership and networking into building a world-class technical and business team. The agility of this expert
team enabled XeedQ into launching the first-to-market 4+ qubit mobile quantum processor- XQ1.
To further add to the testimony, XeedQ GmbH has been awarded a research and development contract from the quantum computing initiative of the German aerospace agency for developing scalable diamond spin-based quantum computers.
Sri Ranjini Arumugam PhD
An expert scientist in the field of biophysical chemistry with publications in internationally reputed journals. Experienced, detail-oriented, specialized in this area as well as developing new applications and products. Recipient of international research grants. In the academic career, I have mentored UG, PG, and, PhD students. Highly skilled in overseeing research office activities and company management. A public science communicator, motivational speaker, and career advisor.
Sanjay Kumar has been teaching drama, poetry and sociolinguistics at Department of French and Francophone Studies, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad for the last twelve years. He has a doctorate in Swiss French Literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr. Kumar has supervised till now five PhD theses and two research scholars are working with him at present. Besides, he has presented twenty-five papers in different national and international conferences.
He has published nine books and around twenty research articles in French, English and Hindi. He has also translated three French novels into Hindi. In 2022, he published a French translation of the Hindi short story of Uday Prakash, “Tirichh”. Kahin Tum Bhatak Na Jao, his translation of the Nobel laureate Patrick Modiano’s novel was shortlisted for Romain Rolland Prize given by the French government tobest translators into Indian languages. along with his colleagues, he is the founder-editor of a peer-reviewed French journal Réflexions. He has delivered more than twenty invited lectures in different universities all over the country including two for the UGC-HRDC, Jaipur.
Soumya Bhadury is a macroeconomist currently working with the Strategic Research Unit (SRU) at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Soumya’s research interests include understanding macro-financial linkages in emerging markets and work experience covers macroeconomic surveillance and forecasting at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Soumya has a Ph.D. in Economics from University of Kansas. Before joining RBI, he worked as an economist at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), New Delhi.
Prof. Sunil Goyal is a Merit holder, Silver Medallist, Recipient of Merit Scholarship, Government of India MoHRD – Social Service Award and Teacher’s Day Award, Social Scientist, Dean, Professor, Member – NAAC Peer Team, Writer, Master Trainer, Motivational and Professional Speaker, Researcher, Ph. D. Research Guide, Former Project Director – Major Project, GoI, and Editor – in – Chief (Hon.) of The International Research Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Masilmani Jeganmohan was born in Vazhapattampalayam, Tamilnadu, India in 1978. He received his bachelor degree from St. Joseph’s College (Cuddalore), the University of Madras in 1998 and his master degree from the University of Madras in 2001. He earned his Ph. D from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, under Prof. Chien – Hong Cheng in 2005 and pursued postdoctoral work in the same laboratory (Aug 2005 – July 2009). Then he joined as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow in Prof. Paul Knochel’s group, Ludwig – Maximilians –Universität, Germany (Sep 2009 – Oct 2010).
In November 2010, he joined as an Assistant professor in IISER Pune. He was promoted to Associate professor in April – 2016 at IISER Pune. In October – 2016, he has shifted from IISER Pune to IIT Madras as an Associate professor. At present, he is working as an Associate professor at IIT Madras.
