To create an awareness on the ill-effects of ragging and drug abuse, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST, Ramapuram.
Anti-Ragging Cell and Department of Mathematics jointly organized an Awareness Program on “Anti-ragging and Drug Abuse” at TRP Auditorium on 06.05.2022 at 11 AM.

The program started with the invocation song. Dr.J.Jagadeesan, VP Admin, welcomed the chief guest and spoke about the objectives of the awareness program on Anti-Ragging and Drug Abuse. He spoke about the activities of Anti-Ragging Cell of our Institute. Dr.Prabakaran, VP Academics addressed the student gathering about their responsibilities and to move on in their lives making right decisions at the right time.
Dr. M. Muralikrishna, Dean E&T in his felicitation address said, Senior students should be more responsible and guide the juniors with respect to academics and other aspects of student life. He cautioned the students not to get into ragging and drug menaces, and the punishments implemented on such actions.
Dr.Subbaiah Bharathi, Director, Ramapuram Campus in his presidential address said, Police and Teacher have one point in common, they are more concerned about the character of people which in-turn reflects their life choices. He insisted the students to work on a good social cause and not to be the reason for social chaos.
Mr. K. S. Narenthiran Nayar, in his key note address mentioned about the cause of creating the Anti-ragging act 1997 in Tamilnadu. He said about the regulations framed along with the act and the roles of the anti-ragging committee. He said college life of every student is an important phase of the life and to be cautious towards drug usage, which starts in a slow phase and getting addicted to it beyond a level. He advised the students to choose their peer group and to keep their parents and loved ones in their mind, so that they will not go astray.
Mr. Nayar appealed the heads of SRMIST, to train the students to work for social causes and proposed to work on a collaborative work towards the upliftment of the society and eradication of social menances. An open session was held at the end of the event, where the chief guest of the day answered to all the questions raised.
The program concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Balika, Anti-Ragging coordinator followed by National Anthem.
