NATIONAL SEMINAR ON ADVANCED NANOMATERIALS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ENERGY APPLICATIONS
The Department of Physics, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai has organized “National Seminar on Advanced Nanomaterials for Sustainable Development and Energy applications” on 28th May 2021. The event was conducted online through CISCO WEBEX Platform
Dr.M.Murali Krishna, Dean (E&T) addressed the gathering and shared his views. He appreciated the Dept for selecting an appropriate topic for the National Seminar. The event started with welcome address by Dr.L.Sudha, Professor & HOD/ Physics
Dr.Manika Khanuja, Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Jamia Millia Islamia(Central University), New Delhi gave an amazing lecture on “Nano materials for sustainable development and environment improvement”. She gave an insight on water pollution problem and its solution by different treatments using 2D nanomaterials. She mentioned about different 2D nanostructures such as MoS2, WS2, MoSe2 synthesis and their application in dye degradation and pollution mitigation
Dr.Rupali Nagar, Nanomaterials for Energy Applications Lab, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune explained about “Future of Carbon Functional Materials” . She introduced basics of carbon-based nanomaterials, graphene, carbon nanotubes, their synthesis techniques and applications in various areas such as Fcells, Hydrogen storage, Li ion battery, Supercapacitors etc. She also presented an outlook of the field with novel structures such as pillared Graphene.
Dr. K.J.Sankaran, Senior Scientist, Advanced Materials Technology Department
CSIR – (IMMT), Bhubaneshwar gave a scintillating talk on “Diamond-An Emergent Material for Opto-Electronic and Energy Applications”. He has explained about the latest techniques involved in the growth of Diamond thin films. He also presented the diamond applications on Field Electron Emission and Plasma Illumination and Electrochemical Supercapacitors.
We have received around 458 participants in Cisco Webex Platform. The participants for the above three sessions include Faculty members, Research Scholars and PG students from various universities and institutions. The participants raised questions to the speakers and discussed about the topics. A good feedback was received from the participants on the talk by the resource persons. The session ended with vote of Thanks by Dr. T.Beena, AP(SG)/Physics, one of the coordinator of the National Seminar. The successful event was coordinated by Dr.Sanju Rani, AP(OG)/Physics
