INDUSTRIAL (HOSPITAL) VISIT REPORT

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, SRMIST, Ramapuram has organised an Industrial Visit and One Day Workshop on Biomedical Applications for second year Biomedical Engineering students at Gleneagles Global Health City, Perumbakkam, Chennai on 27th May 2022.
The day started with the address to students by Dr.M.Murali Krishna, Dean (E&T) on the importance of industrial visit in the presence of Dr.Prabhakaran, Vice-Principal (Academic).
At Global Health City, the SRMIST Team was welcomed by Dr.C.Emmanuel, Director, Academic and Research. In his address, he pointed out the importance of hospital visit for Biomedical Engineering students and also about the latest developments in medical field.
The students were then grouped into batches and accompanied by team of Biomedical Engineering staffs of the hospital. The guided visit covered all departments including the critical organ transplantation facilities. The workshop has helped students to understand the latest equipments and technology in the medical field, which they studied in their curriculum (both in outpatient and inpatient blocks were covered).
Students gained very good knowledge and practical experience about the concept and the working principle of the instruments and machines used for EEG,ECG,CT,MRI, Dialysis, ENT, Dental, step by step process of blood bank, IVF procedure and so on. All the participants were issued certificate after the workshop.
Overall it was a great learning experience for students who clarified their doubts on practical applications of Biomedical instruments, Sensors and medical imaging techniques.
Dr.Ushus S kumar, HOD(I/c) and Mrs.G.Annapoorani, Asst. Professor, co-ordinated and guided the students along with the hospital staff for the smooth conduct of the industrial visit.
