Bodhi International Virtual Conference on Emerging Trends in Language, Literature and Linguistics
WEBSITE REPORT
The Department of English and other Foreign Languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus organized a Virtual International conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Language, Literature and Linguistics’ on November 12, 2022 in collaboration with BODHI International Journal of Research in Humanities, Arts and Science (BIJRHAS). The conference commenced with TamizhthaiVazhthu followed by Lighting of Kuthuvizhakku. Dr. V. Rema, Convenor of the conference welcomed and presented the theme of the conference in a lucid manner.The Dean E&T delivered the Presidential address and the Vice principal academic offered felicitations. Dr. MustabshiraSiddhiqui, Assistant Professor, Department of English Language and Literature, Taibah University, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the chief guest delivered the inaugural address. She highlighted the emerging trends in literature in her address. The organizing secretary of the conference Dr. S. Savitha delivered the vote of thanks. After the inauguration there were two keynote talks. Dr. MahindiraManim, Associate Professor, Department of English Language, Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia emphasized the issues in online language assessment and the challenges faced and suggested the possible solutions. The next key note speaker Dr. B. J. Geetha, Associate Professor of English Studies, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Central University of Tamilnadu deliberated on Ecocriticism and Gender studies.
There were three plenary sessions in which 85 research papers were presented. Dr. Vasanthan. R, Asso. Professor, National College, Trichy, Dr. S. Ramanathan, Assistant Professor, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar, Dr. Indira Banerji, Assistant professor of English, YagodaSatsangaMahavidyalaya, Ranchi University and the Foreign Language Session by Dr. Walter, Assistant professor of EFL, SRMIST Ramapuram. were the Chairpersons of the conference for the sessions.
During the Valediction Dr. Rema welcomed and the organisingsecretary presented the report of the conference. The valedictory address was given by Dr. Ritushree Sengupta, Fullbright Research Fellow, Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. She mentioned various forms of emerging trends in Language and literature. The joint organizing secretary, Dr. K. Kaviarasu proposed the vote of thanks. The participants gave very positive feedback about the conference.
