The Department of Physics has organized Virtual Symposium on “Multifunctional Materials” on 17-06-2020 (Wednesday) between 10:00AM to 1:00PM (IST) through ZOOM platform. The details of the sessions are given below.
In the first session, Prof. Binay Kumar, Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi has delivered lecture on the topic“Single Crystals for Multifunctional Applications”.Hediscussed about basics ofcrystals, device fabrication and applications.
In the second session, Prof. K. Sankaranarayanan, Department of Physics, Alagappa University, Karaikudihas delivered lecture on the topic “Organic Crystals for Scintillator Applications”. He discussed elaboratelyabout nucleation and unidirectional method to grow scintillation crystals.
Finally in the third session, Dr. S. Anbu, Molecular Imaging Researcher, Departments of Chemistry & Biomedical Sciences, University of Hull, United Kingdom has delivered lecture on the topic “Mn-based MRI Alternatives to Gd – Contrast Agents”. He discussed aboutprinciple of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)technique andadvantages of Gadolinium as contrast agentin the MRI.
We received overwhelming registrations, 300 participants including faculty from all over India, research scholars and UG/PG students attended the virtual symposium. The participants raised questions to the speakers and discussed about the topics. The participants gave very good feedback.
The resource persons thanked the management and organizers for arranging the virtual symposium.
The session was chaired by Dr. L. Sudha, Hod/Physics. Dr. N. Karunagaran, Assistant Professor (O. G), proposed the vote of thanks.
