Report on “Innovative Investigation Techniques and Data Processing for the Assessment of Bridges”
The department of Civil Engineering organized the International Webinar on “Innovative Investigation Techniques and Data Processing for the Assessment of Bridges”, in association with Indian Society for Non-Destructive Testing & PROCEQ on 07th April, 2021. The program has around 400 participated from various colleges, faculties and civil professionals.
The session started with a welcome address by Mr.S.Subramanian, Chairman ISNT-Chennai. The felicitated Address byDr.M.Murali Krishna,Dean(E & T). The Special Address by Dr.T.Ch.Madhavi,HoD/Civil Engg. Followed by introduction of speaker byMr.Murthy S.G.N, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-SERC,Chennai.
Dr.GuidoTronca,NDT Specialist, Founder and CEO of GT Studio, Italy.He explained the use of ultrasonic tomography applications on conventional and post-tensioned concrete structures. Structural Ground Penetrating Radar was the other main topic, such as vector imaging and amplitude analysis for weathering and corrosion assessment. He has an over 20 years of experience in the field of NDT for Civil Engineering. He is a Certified Level II/III Expert in several NDT’s for Civil Engineering at Italian.
The participantsraisedquestions at end of the each day session, which was clearly answered bythe speakers. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. R.Vivek, Hon. Secretary, ISNT-Chennai Chapter. The webinar gives an overview of the investigation techniques that are currently being evaluated, with specific emphasis on the most innovative and non-conventional approaches. The whole lecture gives a strong practice-driven perspective, discussing all applications by means of explanatory real-life cases.
