REPORT

The Department of Chemistry, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus organized a National Conference on “NEW AVENUES AND ADVANCEMENTS IN MATERIAL SCIENCE (NAAMS-2022)” on 26^th September 2022 associated with Association of Chemistry Teachers, Mumbai. The Chief Guest Dr. V. Jayaraman, Associate Director, Materials Chemistry and Fuel Cycle Group, Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam inaugurated the event by lightning the Kuthuvilakku.

Honoring the Chief Guest

Dr. V. Jayaraman, started the Fore Noon session by delivering the key note speech on “HARNESSING THE PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS TOWARDS CHEMICAL SENSING”. He stressed on the importance of inorganic compounds and their properties and also the applications of different inorganic crystals such as sensors and actuators. The innovative research for different sensors to ensure safe and smooth operation of liquid metal cooled fast breeder reactor in India.

Key note Address by Dr. V. Jayaraman

After the key note address, plenary lectures were started with experts came from CLRI and Anna University, Chennai. The first plenary lecture entitled “TRIARYLAMINES – A VERSATILE MOLECULAR BUILDING BLOCK FOR OPTOELECTRONIC MATERIALS” was given by Dr.S. Easwaramoorthi, Principal Scientist, CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai. The second lecture entitled “NANOSTRUCTURED MATERIALS FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY HARVESTING FROM WASTE HEAT” was given by Dr. M. Arivanandhan, Professor, Centre for Nanscience and Technology, Anna University.

Around 150 participants have participated and presented their research papers in both offline and online mode (Oral/Poster) in the field of Chemical Research.

Finally in the valedictory address, best oral and poster presentation awards were selected and given by Dr. P. Jeyanthi, Professor, Queen Mary’s College, Chennai and Dr. P. Palanisamy, Associate Professor, Sir Thiyagaraya College, Chennai
