Massive cleanliness CAMPAIGN
(Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta)
The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, initiated by Prime Minister on September 15th concluded on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. In the 105th episode of his “Mann Ki Baat” program, Our honourable Prime Minister has extended an earnest appeal to our fellow citizens and also the communication by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as well as University Grants Commission (Ministry of Human Resource Development), the College of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST, Ramapuram officially registered and created event under the leadership of Respected Dean(E&T) on “Massive Cleanliness Campaign” towards “Shramdaan for Swachhata 2023” in the official website of Swachhatahiseva for the field unit of ward 154,Chennai. This event also tagged in geographical area of India map.
As part of Swachhata Pakhwada-Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2023, the SWACHHATA Club of Campus Life, College of Engineering and Technology Organized MASSIVE CLEANLINESS CAMPAIGN on 1st October 2023 at 10 am towards EK TAREEKH, EK GHANTA, EK SATH-A Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the Eve of his Birth Anniversary on 2nd October 2023.
Dr.M. Saravanan, Assistant Professor, Nodal Officer and Convenor of the campaign distributed hand gloves to the faculties & students to disseminate the message of cleanliness and sanitation in our surroundings and field units.
200 students from assorted branches of Engineering and Technology, College of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST have actively participated in Massive Cleanliness Campaign (Swachhata Pakhwada-Swachhata Hi Seva).
Respected Dean(E&T) inaugurated and Presided over the Massive Cleanliness Campaign. Inaugural speech by Dean(E&T) was created awareness among the students on the history of plastic usage and current responsibilities of the citizens against usage of the plastic. Dean (Campus Life), Campus Life Coordinators, NSS Coordinator, Staff members, Campus Life and NSS student members were present. Followed by the inaugural address by Dean(E&T), the Massive Cleanliness Awareness rally was conducted from SRMIST, Ramapuram to Om Namo Narayana Swamy Temple, Bajanai Koil Street, Ramapuram. Later, the coordinators and students were divided into three groups and actively performed in ground cleaning (Swachhata ) activities in and surrounding ground areas of Om Namonarayana swamy temple,Bajanai Koil Street and roadsides. They also involve the public people for this cleaning activities to create awareness to generate jan andolan through community participation as per the guidelines from “Shramdaan for Swachhata 2023”.
As per the principle of EK TAREEKH, EK GHANTA, EK SATH (One Date, One Hour, Together) College of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST team have collected 75 Kgs of plastic materials and solid wastes in the roadsides of Bharathi Salai,Ramapuram and Grounds near Om Namo Narayanaswamy temple, Bajanai Koil Street, Ramapuram,Chennai.
Coordinators and Student members created awareness among the public about negative impact of increased usage of plastic and the need for using the environment friendly materials in day-to-day life.
Under the leadership of Respected Dean(E&T), this Massive Cleanliness Campaign invoke a spirit of cleanliness, plastic free environment and solid waste management among the students and also public people in the surrounding areas of Ramapuram, Chennai. Convenor Mr.S.D.Kumar, Asst. Prof., NSS coordinator and Mr.R.Santhoshram, Asst. Prof., Coordinator of the campaign collected the feedback about the campaign. Public people have given good feedback about the campaign. The campaign photos and videos also uploaded in official Instagram, Facebook, twitter platforms of SRMIST, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai, Tamilnadu. The same has been uploaded in official website of Swachhata Hi Seva. We thank the management for providing immense support to make this campaign a grand success.
