With immense pleasure we wish to share with you all that the *Three Day Yusuf Hameed Residential Chemistry Camp sponsored by ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY was inaugurated at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Ramapuram Campus on 3rd August 2023 at 10.00 am.
During the Inaugural address
Dr V.Subbaiah Bharathi Director, Ramapuram and Trichy campuses insisted that any innovation in Science should be for the benefit of mankind and should not lead to destruction. He motivated the school children to utilize the opportunity given to them through this camp to build interest in the science subject.
During the felicitation address by Dr M.Murali Krishna , Dean E&T, he insisted on the importance of education and motivated the students to enjoy learning Chemistry in University Labs. Dr V.Narayanan Associate Director graced the inaugural session. Dr V.Prabhakaran, Vice Principal Academic during his felicitation insisted on hard work to reach the life goals.
Ms.MelissaMendonza, Program Executive Royal Society of Chemistry during her address gave an overview about the Yusuf Hameed Chemistry camp and expressed her gratitude for the Management authorities SRMIST,Ramapuram for hosting the camp.
Earlier Dr.HelenP.Kavitha, Professor and Head/Chemistry welcomed the gathering. Around 70 students ( both boys and girls)from Goverment schools in and around Chennai are participating in this three day camp.
After the Inaugural session, a presentation about the Ramapuram Campus was given by Dr Helen followed by a presentation on Laboratory safety by Dr K.S. Yoganand. After this students were taken to Chemistry Labs where they performed Interesting Chemistry experiments taught by the faculty mentors of the Chemistry Department.
Our heartfelt thanks to our Honorable Chairman Sir and Honorable Co chairman Sir for their support and encouragement.

The Three Day Residential Yusuf Hamied Chemistry Camp sponsored by Royal Society of Chemistry at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram campus was successfully concluded today on 5th August 2023 with the Valedictory function at 4.30 pm.
During the Three Day Residential Camp the following activities were carried out.
All the participating students were provided with Back bag, Colour cap and ID Card, Lab coat,goggles and gloves.
Day 1
After the Inaugural session, a presentation about our Ramapuram Campus was given to the students by Dr Helen P.Kavitha, HOD,/Chemistry followed by presentation about Lab safety, Dr .K.S.Yoganand, Asst Professor/ Chemistry. Students were taught to do colour creation experiment and crystallization.
Day 2
Students performed forensic challenge experiment and clock reaction in batches. They were taken to campus tour. They visited SRMIST Library, Physics Lab, ARVR Labs, MNCP Lab in SRMIST and Robotics Lab at EEC. In the post lunch session they were involved in activities such as Connections and passing the ball. After this they enjoyed fun experiments in Chemistry.
Day 3
Students performed Slìme hydrogel and Global Coin battery experiment A science talk was given by Dr T.V.Rajendran on Adulteration. A science video on shown to the students on What is Science.
During the valedictory session students gave feedback about their stay in SRMIST Hostel and the experimental knowledge and principles behind the experiments they gained in the Three Day Chemistry Camp at SRMIST,Ramapuram Campus.
Students enjoyed the camp thoroughly and expressed their happiness of participating in the Camp and expressed their gratitude to RSC and SRMIST,Ramapuram for organizing such an inspiring Chemistry Camp.
