The Department of Physics has organized Two Day International Web Symposium on Nonlinear Systems and its Applications from 11th – 12th September 2020 between 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM (IST). The details of the sessions are as follows:
Day 1: 11/09/20 (Friday)
In the session 1, Dr. M. Tantawy, Senior Lecturer, Department of Basic Science, October 6 University, Egypt has presented a talk on the topic “Analytical solutions of Nonlinear Evolution Equations and Nonlinear Wave Configuration”. He has focused on some of the nonlinear wave equations and explained the collisional dynamics of nonlinear wave forms such as one soliton, two solitons and three solitons.
In the session 2, Dr. Jisha C P, Marie S -C Actions IF Fellow, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany has delivered a lecture on the title “Self-trapping of Light using the Geometric Phase”. She has enlightened the self-trapping technique of light in the optical fiber medium by using geometric phase change and emphasized the applications of the self-trapping of light in thin and flat lens.
Session 1: Dr. M. Tantawy

Session 2: Dr. C. P.Jisha

Day 2: 12/09/20 (Saturday)
In the session 3, Dr. Manukumara Manjappa, Postdoctoral Fellow, CDPT, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore has delivered a talk on the title “Fano Resonance in Metamaterial Structures: A Platform for Nonlinear Photonics”. He has epitomized about negative refractive index and Fano Resonance technique and highlighted the applications of metamaterials in various sensing fields.
In the session 4, Dr. K. Nakkeeran, Senior Lecturer, School of Engineering, University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom has delivered a talk on the topic “Designing and Modeling of Optical Systems and Sensing”. He has explored the propagation light in the optical fibre and how the medium exhibits nonlinearity with the initial conditions. Additionally, he described about the nonlinear Schrödinger wave equation and its significance.
The Department received around 100 participants in Zoom Platform and 56 participants in YouTube. The participants include faculty, research scholars and PG/UG students from various universities and institutions. The participants raised questions to the speakers and discussed about the topics. The participants gave very good feedback.
All the resource persons thanked the management and organizers for arranging the international symposium.
All the session was chaired by Dr. L. Sudha, Hod/Physics. Dr. K. Subramanian, Assistant Professor (Sr. G) proposed the vote of thanks.
Session 3: Dr. Manukumara Manjappa

Session 4: Dr. K. Nakkeeran
