The Mathematics association “Fractal” of Department of Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, conducted the mathematical event “FORTY II” on 4th October 2018. The purpose of conducting “FORTY II 2018” is to enhance the mathematical talents and skills of the students.
The event had three intriguing rounds, each aiming to test the participants on their mathematical skills. The event also hosted a 30 minute mini workshop on “Rubik’s Cube”.
The first round of the event was named as ” Minute for 3” where the teams were provided a set of questions and the teams which answered them correctly in the shortest time were selected for the second round. The second round of event was named as “Paper Towns”. The qualified teams from the first two rounds competed in the final round named as “(Three)3, where the teams were given Rubik’s Cube that they solved with the hints provided in 2 chits in no particular order. The teams which solved them in the shortest time were declared to have won the event.
The first prize was won by Amit Sahni, Jai Chowdary and Krishna Teja of second year CSE Department. The second prize was won by Soukumarya Datta, Shreyas Rajan and Rohan Nigam of second year CSE Department. Neeraj Kumar, Vikas Kumar and Abhishekh of Second year CSE Department won the third prize.
During the Valedictory function, Dr. Shakeela Sathish, Head, Department of Mathematics distributed the prizes to the winners and congratulated the student coordinators for the successful conduct of the event.The event helped in actuating the analytical thinking of the students and encouraging them to think out of box.
