The esteemed Chief guest Dr. B. The head of the department of Mathematics, delivered the welcome address followed by a felicitation by the respected Dean, Engineering and Technology, who honoured the chief guest with a memento and a shawl.
The session delved into the pressing issues the faculty advisors face while handling stu- dents, providing a thorough exploration of how to identify different psychological and behavioral patterns indicative of problems and challenges. Dr. Sudhakaran illuminated the subtle yet significant indicators—such as erratic mood fluctuations, social withdrawal, and other behavioral anomalies, the extreme of which is use of harmful substances—that faculty members should be vigilant about. His deliberation emphasized a holistic ap- proach to uncovering the root causes of these behaviors while underscoring the critical need for early intervention and appropriate coping mechanisms.
In addition, Dr. Sudhakaran highlighted the profound importance of cultivating re-silience within students. He offered invaluable guidance on how faculty advisors and mentors can establish a nurturing, safe environment, empowering students to confront personal adversities and reinforce their emotional fortitude. By fostering open channels of communication and employing thoughtful, proactive strategies, educators can play a transformative role in bolstering student well-being and promoting resilience.
The session was highly enriching, equipping faculty with practical and implementable strategies to not only identify at-risk students but to actively support their journey toward recovery and growth. Dr. Sudhakaran also led an engaging discussion on the pragmatic application of the concepts presented, ensuring that faculty members could integrate these insights effectively within their daily interactions with students.
