As part of the SRM-RMUN Club, a significant event organized by the department of English and Other Foreign Languages annually is the three-day Model United Nations. Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is a conference which involves extra-curricular activities in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees.
A recent sensitive international issue is taken as an agenda(s) and the delegates are expected to come up with viable solutions for the benefit of the global community. Every student or delegate gives speeches detailing their country’s stance on the agenda and offer possible solutions.
This activity encourages research, public speaking, debating and writing skills as well as critical thinking, team work and leadership abilities of today’s youth who shall emerge as responsible citizens of tomorrow.
