About the Event
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Seminar on ” Insights into Journal Selection” organized by Journal club for the students of CSE department and its specialization in physical mode on 10th August 2024. The event begins with the welcome address by Dr.A.Senthil Selvi, Prof & Dy HOD (CC>) followed by the seminar by the speakers. The student co-ordinators Ms.Aliya Shaheen, IV CSE D and Mr.Athithyaraagul, III CSBS delivered the seminar to the participants about the concepts of Research article writing and plagiarism checking and enlightened the students about how to write research papers and explained to the students about citations as well as h-index. The students interactively participated and clarified their doubts. The session ended with vote of thanks by Dr.S.Raja Ratna, ASP/CSE and Dr.G.Gangadevi, AP/CSE.

The resource person began by actively interacting with the students, setting a collaborative tone for the session. The session delivered into ethical considerations while publishing a research paper which was talked about by Mr.Athithyaraagul, highlighting the responsibilities of researchers to uphold integrity and transparency in their work. This segment provided valuable guidelines on how to navigate ethical dilemmas and avoid common pitfalls in research publishing.
In addition, Aliya explained common metrics used to rank journals, offering students a deeper understanding of how journals are evaluated and ranked in the academic world. This knowledge equips researchers with the tools to assess the potential reach and significance of their work within their field. The session ended with a small discussion by Mr.Athithyaraagul about some the most popular Journal websites. Throughout the session, students found the content to be both informative and engaging. The interactive format encouraged active participation, with students asking questions and providing feedback. The session ended a talk about the next event and a final vote of thanks by the faculty co-ordinators Dr. S. Raja Ratna, ASP/CSE and Dr. G. Gangadevi, AP/CSE.
