The Department of Physics, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, successfully organized a Seminar on“Advanced Biophysical Approaches and Smart Nanomaterials in Precision Medicine” on 10 August 2026 through the Zoom platform. The seminar focused on exploring advanced biophysical techniques and smart nanomaterials for targeted, personalized, and effective precision medicine. The event brought together academicians, scientists, research scholars, faculty members, and students to exchange knowledge and discuss emerging research trends in sustainable energy technologies.
Inaugural Session – 10.00 AM
The programme commenced with a warm Welcome Address delivered by Dr. V. Jayalakshmi, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, who welcomed the distinguished resource person, faculty members, research scholars, students, and participants from various institutions. She highlighted the importance of advanced biophysical techniques and smart nanomaterials to enable early diagnosis, targeted drug delivery, personalized treatment, and improved therapeutic outcomes in precision medicine.
Following the welcome address, Dr. A. R. Baby Suganthi, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, introduced the Resource Person, Dr. M. Ashok Kumar, Professor, Department of Physics, Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Thandalam, Chennai. She briefed the audience on the speaker’s academic achievements, research contributions, and expertise in advanced materials for electrochemical energy storage.
Technical Session I 10.10 AM – 11.00 AM
Dr. M. Ashok Kumar delivered an insightful lecture on:
“Smart Magnetic Nanoparticles: A Frontier in Next-Generation Cancer Treatment”
The presentation provided information on the use of magnetic nanoparticles for targeted and controlled cancer therapy. These nanoparticles can deliver anticancer drugs directly to tumor sites using an external magnetic field, while minimizing damage to healthy tissues.
Technical Session II 11.00 AM – 12.00 PM
After the first session, Dr. J. T. Anandhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, introduced the Resource Person Dr. K. Gunasekaran, Assistant Professor, CAS in Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras, Guindy Campus, Chennai.
Dr. K. Gunasekaran delivered an insightful lecture on:
“Complementary Molecular Biophysical Tools to Understand the Mechanism of Action by Biomolecules”
The talk has focused on complementary biophysical techniques to investigate the structure, dynamics, interactions, and mechanisms of biomolecules, providing deeper insights into their biological functions and aiding in drug discovery and disease research.
