On 27.02.2019, four faculty members, Mr. Ajay Daniel, Mr. Nagisetty Sridhar, Mr. Vinil and Ms. Vijayalakshmi from department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department visited Grace Matriculation School for teaching few major portions in physics, particularly with respect to electricity and magnetism, as per their syllabus.
Model based teaching of the above portions was considered. This programme was basically intended towards brand building for the SRM IST RMP. High school students of the school were the audience. Total number of students benefitted through this programme was 240 students. Time schedule between which the programme was organized is 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Basics about how electricity and magnetism are implemented in day to day life along with involvement of science towards engineering was taught. Topics which were covered include Magnetism, Basics on Electricity, Production of Electricity and Different Sources of Electricity.
Along with the above topics live demonstration of how electric power is generated from a DC generator was explained. All the students were so enthusiastic, attentive and cooperative in listening to the topics explained.
The programme was a success. The students were so interactive to answer the questions asked by us and also they were asking so many doubts on the above topics. Because of the above program students got a brief idea on how engineering could change the social problems and what problems we face in our day to day life.
They were so impressed on the teaching made, and collected the phone numbers of the teachers. Few of the students made calls on the following days to thank and clarify further more doubts!
The students were finally emphasized about the SRM IST RMP and the highlights of our institution.
The management of the school was also impressed upon the EEE department’s perseverance on this service. They encouraged us to come in the next year also for organizing such an event.
