Summary of the Event:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology,
Ramapuram, organized a technical workshop titled “Practical workshop on Biomedical
sensors” under the Bioinnovation club. The event was conducted on 25th March 2026 at the
Bioinstrumentation Lab (Block III, 4th Floor).
This workshop aimed to provide students with fundamental knowledge of Internet of
Things (IoT) applications in the healthcare sector. It focused on how smart devices, sensors,
and connected systems are used for patient monitoring, diagnosis, and improving medical
services.
The session was designed as a practical workshop, allowing participants to gain hands-on
experience with IoT-based healthcare technologies. Students learned about real-time data
collection, remote patient monitoring, and the role of biomedical instrumentation in modern
healthcare systems.
The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ushus S. Kumar
(HOD/I.C), along with faculty coordinators Dr. Shelishiyah R and Ms. P. Padmapriya.
Student coordinators from the Biomedical Engineering department actively managed and
organized the session.
Overall, the workshop enhanced students’ technical skills, practical knowledge, and
awareness of emerging healthcare technologies, making it a valuable learning experience.
E-certificates were provided to all participants.
Outcome of the Event:
Students gained a basic understanding of IoT concepts and how they are applied in the
healthcare field.
● Participants developed hands-on experience with IoT-based healthcare systems and
biomedical instruments.
● Improved knowledge about real-time patient monitoring, wearable devices, and
smart medical technologies.
● Enhanced students’ technical and practical skills related to sensors, data collection, and connectivity.
● Created awareness about modern healthcare innovations and future career
opportunities in IoT and biomedical engineering.
● Strengthened teamwork and coordination skills through active participation in the
workshop.
● Boosted students’ confidence in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world
healthcare applications.
