Pongal is celebrated the day on which the sun begins to move northwards is called ‘Makar Sankranti’. In Tamil Nadu this festival is called the Pongal and this period is considered to be auspicious.
Under the leadership of Respected Dean(E&T), The Campus Life Team, Faculty of Engineering and Technology celebrated Pongal Festival in grand manner on 12.01.2024. Right after the decorations are done routine rituals are followed for slogan song and lighting the Kuthuvizhaku by Respected Dean(E&T), Dean (Campus Life), VP(Admin), HODs, Campus Life Coordinators and Student members. Sweet Pongal and Sundal offered as prasadam to all the HODs, faculties and students.
Respected Dean (E&T) presided over the Pongal Celebrations. The celebration also proceeded with the preparation of Pongal by all departments. All participants wore traditional costumes and the events began with the boiling of rice in the most traditional manner.
Following this, the offstage competitions like Pongal Cooking, Rangoli, Tug of war, Pot breaking (Uriyadi) have been conducted for students and faculties. A while later, the onstage events like singing by students, Music, Solo dance performance and Group dance and Traditional Ramp Walk have been started with welcome address by Dean (E&T), where students participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their skills and talent. The contribution by the students towards the programme was immense. Convenor of the event Dr.M.Saravanan,Associate Professor, Department of Physics has proposed the vote of thanks.
