REPORT OF THE EVENT (ONE DAY VIRTUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “NEW APPROACHES IN LANGUAGE TEACHING, LITERARY STUDIES AND CULTURAL STUDIES)

The Department of English and Foreign Languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram in Collaboration with Bodhi International Journal of Research in Humanities Arts and Science Organised a One Day Virtual International Conference on “New Approaches in Language Teaching, Literary Studies and Cultural Studies” on 27 April 2024.
The inaugural session began with the presidential address by our honourable Chief Director, SRM IST, Ramapuram, followed by the felicitation address of our respected Associate Director, SRM IST, Ramapuram. The distinguished guest speaker Dr. Manimangai Mani, Senior lecturer, Department of English, Faculty of Maodern Languages and communication, Universiti Putra, Malaysia delivered the inaugural address on the topic “ Recent Trends in Asian Literature.”
We had three prominent keynote speakers. Dr. Prasenjit Panda, Associate Professor, Department of English and Foreign Language Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya Bilasfur, Chatisgarh spoke on a very innovative topic, “Digital Eco Poetics.” Dr.M.Septhia Panda, Professor & Head, Deparmtent of English, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Universitas Serambi Mekah, Indonesia proficiently deliberated on the topic “AI ERA: Towards Self Regulated Language Learners & Highly adaptable Language Teachers. Dr.K.Kaviyarasu, Assistant Professor of English, Vivekananda College, Agastheeswaram, Kanyakumari, Tamilnadu presented on the topic, “ Eclipsing the Author: AI in Literature.”
The paper presenation was conducted in two parallel sessions chaired respectively by Dr. Devarajuly Reddy, Professor of English, Department of Humanities and Basic Sciences, Sri Venkatesa Perumal College of Engineering and Technology, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and Dr. Indira Banerjee, Assistant Professor Department of English, Yogoda Satsanga Mahavidyalaya, Ranchi University, Ranchi, Jharkhand. The Conference lured 75 paper presentations by, Students, Research scholars and Faculty members from various institutions.
Special address for the valedictory session was delivered by respected Dean, E&T, SRMIST, followed by the valedictory address by Dr. Rohan Savarimuthu, Head, Dept. Of Information Technology and Senior Lecturer in English, Dept of Languages and Communication Studies, Eastern University, Srilanka.
The Welcome note for both the inaugural and felicitation sessions were delivered by Dr.V.Rema, Head Department of English and Foreign Languages, SRM IST, E&T.
The Conference overview was presented by Mrs. Vidyalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of EFL, SRM IST, E&T. The organizing Secretary of the Conference Dr. K. Nagamani, Assistant Professor of English proposed vote of thanks for both the sessions.
The Conference served as a dynamic forum for intellectual exchange and collaboration, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and scholarship in various interconnected fields of Language, Literature and Culture.
Participants departed with new insights, inspiration, networks for future collaboration and furnished positive feedback about the conference.
