Date: 06.02.2025-13.02.25
SRM Institute of Science and Technology, under the banner of the MUN Club, successfully conducted a week-long Model United Nations (MUN) workshop from 6th to 13th February 2025, as part of a Campus Life Event. This workshop was held in affiliation with the Department of English and Foreign Languages and aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of MUNs, focusing on Rules of Procedure (ROP), debate strategies, and diplomatic engagement. With an overwhelming response, the workshop recorded nearly 400 registrations, out of which around 300 students actively participated throughout the week. Each session was meticulously designed to enhance public speaking, negotiation, team building, diction, and body language, equipping students with essential skills for both MUNs and professional settings.
Following an overview of MUNs and their importance, the workshops included lively discussions, simulated debates, and practical instruction to assist participants in understanding the subtleties of formal argument and diplomacy. In addition to offering academic insights, the program exposed participants to real-world diplomatic situations in a practical setting. The workshops were entertaining and educational because of the interactive approach, which kept the attendees interested. The attendees’ insightful and encouraging comments confirmed the workshop’s success. A large number of students indicated interest in actively engaging in future MUNs and praised the well-organized format. The MUN Club anticipates holding future events of this kind to encourage a culture of discussion, diplomacy, and leadership among students in light of the enthusiastic reaction.
