Venkatesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam, Kerala, highlighting his academic achievements, research contributions, and expertise in nanoelectronics and iRobotics.
Technical Session 1
Dr. S. Venkatesh delivered a lecture titled “Envisioning Circular Economy: From Biochar to 3D Prints to Edge Computing, then Foundations of IoT.” The session focused on sensors, sensor networks, and IoT, emphasizing their applications in smart and sustainable systems and the importance of enhancing sensor performance, reliability, endurance, and efficiency. The session highlighted how these interconnected technologies can contribute to resource efficiency, sustainable innovation.
Following the session, Dr. S. Ranjith, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, introduced the second resource person, Dr. K. Chennakesavulu, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, highlighting his academic achievements, research contributions, and expertise in supramolecular chemistry and nanomaterials.
Technical Session 2
Dr. K. Chennakesavulu delivered a lecture titled “Structural Elucidation of Unknown Organic Compounds by Spectroscopic Techniques.” The session provided a systematic understanding of advanced spectroscopic methods used to identify and determine the structures of unknown organic compounds. Particular emphasis spectroscopy for functional-group identification, thermal analysis, and molecular structure determination. A practical demonstration of ChemDraw software was also conducted, providing participants with hands-on exposure to molecular structure representation and the use of computational tools in chemical analysis and presentation. The session enabled participants to understand the complementary use of spectroscopic techniques and computational tools for solving unknown organic structures.
Conclusion
The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. N. Karunagaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics. He expressed sincere gratitude to the resource persons, Dr. S. Venkatesh and Dr. K. Chennakesavulu, for their valuable lectures and contributions. He also thanked the Head of the Department, faculty members, research scholars, students, and participants from various institutions for their active participation and support.
