An Interactive and Innovative Outreach Program on Machine Learning for 12th grade and diploma students.
Date: 29/06/2020 Timing: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Agenda
An Interactive and Innovative outreach program for enabling the 12th grade and diploma students to explore the field of Machine Learning. The objective is to make the students well capable of endeavouring any basic Machine Learning challenges as we would introduce them to all basic technical applications of Machine Learning.
Importance of the workshop
1)To provoke the students to learn Machine Learning.
2) To explain the students about the advantage of gaining Machine Learning skills.
3) To give an idea about the every day applications of Machine Learning.
4) To provide in-depth elaboration on NLP, Data frames and AI.
5) To provide them information about the booming Machine Learning industry market.
Synopsis
The program started off with praising the glory of SRM Ramapuram and it’s Management followed by an honouring note to The Head of The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM Ramapuram, Dr. N. Kannan. Post to that, we gave a welcome address to the participants and appreciated their interest for joining the program to learn a new skill. Then one of the two speakers of this program, Mahendranath V K, started taking the participants into an extraordinary journey of exploring the applications of Machine Learning and how we use it in our everyday life without even realising it. Also, an introduction to what Machine Learning is and the procedures to be followed to build a Machine Learning model is explained to the students. Then, the method of how the various applications work and the technologies and concept used in these applications were explained. Also, some statistical information about the growth and usage of these applications by the users is shared with the students to let them realise how important Machine Learning is going to be in the future. Then after the explanation of all the applications of Machine Learning we gave the students a boost by challenging them with a little picture puzzle game with the concepts of Machine Learning taught so far. Then another speaker, Renee Robert, explained about some really fascinating technical features of Machine Learning and the process they follow to become capable of learning without being explicitly programmed. A deep delving into the concepts of Machine Learning such as NLP, Dataframes and Artificial Intelligence were given to the students. Each concept was taught one by one making sure that they are well understandable by all the categories of students. Then after the elaborate explanation of all these technical concepts, we had another similar picture puzzle game consisting of pictures depicting the words of technical concepts that were taught. And finally, we had a feedback session with speaker Mahendranath V K explaining the students about the importance to learn Machine Learning and it’s industrial advantage. Finally, we wrapped up the workshop by bidding the students good luck for their career.
