The Department of Mathematics, SRM IST, Ramapuram organized an International Webinar on the topic “Innovative Mathematical Modeling in coastal and Ocean Engineering” on 27.07.2020 for faculty members and research scholars.
Dr. S. Neelamani, Senior Research Scientist, Coastal Management Program, Environment and Life Sciences Research Centre, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait was the resource person. More than 160 participants all over India participated in this webinar.
Challenges in Coastal and Ocean Engineering, where Tsunami, Cyclone, Global warming and sea level rise and coastal erosion and control were interpreted. “Why mathematical modeling in coastal engineering?” was answered and the disadvantages of physical models were expounded. Main scientific problems in coastal and ocean engineering, some mathematical modeling areas in coastal engineering, assumptions in numerical model and some interesting problems on mathematical modeling were elucidated.
The webinar was fruitful with the informative talk of the guest speaker and the interactive session with the participants.
