The International Conference on “Progress in Mathematics towards Industrial Applications” was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering and technology, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai, India on 18th and 19th October 2024 in the hybrid mode.
It was aimed to promote interaction between academy and industry, leading to innovation in both fields and providing unique opportunity to discuss the latest ideas, problems and methodologies, and contributing to the advancement of science and technology to benefit the society.

The conference commenced with the inaugural function on 18th October at 9.30 A.M. with invocation song and lighting of lamp. The Head of the Department and Convener of the conference, welcomed the gathering and gave a brief outline of the Conference. The proceedings of the conference was unveiled by the Chief guest.
Dean (E&T) in his presidential address said that Mathematics provides the theoretical foundation and tools for designing and optimizing the algorithms. He congratulated the Department of Mathematics for organizing such programme in hybrid mode for better exchange of ideas.
Prof. Ajay Kumar in his inaugural address emphasized the importance of Mathematics by detailing its integration with other branches and domains. He said that Mathematics is key for unlocking all the engineering and industrial activities and it provides a systematic framework to explore better ways for development and upgradation of industrial analysis.
In order to have a rewarding and intellectual conservations and to disseminate the understanding of concepts among participants eminent resource persons from all over the world were invited as speakers.

Over 175 research articles were received, among which 135 papers were selected for presentation. Selected papers were presented at the conference in 6 parallel sessions and were published in the conference proceedings.
The guest of honour of the Valedictory function, Prof. Daniel Breaz, Rector of “1 Decembrie 1918 University”, Alba Iulia, Romania, encouraged the mathematics community to explore ways of stimulating and intensifying the collaboration with industry.
Dr. Ajay Kumar in his felicitation expressed the need of incorporating the theoretical part with experiments. He marked the success of the conference by stating it as the convergence of brilliant minds sharing their knowledge.
Dr. R. Srinivasan Coordinator of the conference, briefed the Conference report and Mrs. S. Sangeetha proposed the vote of thanks.
The participants had a very productive interactive sessions with the guest speakers followed by question – answer session. The intensive exposure to the subject, elaborative presentations and discussions led by globally renowned multiple experts; renewed the motivation of the participants. Overall, the conference was very successful and opened new avenues for the participants in collaborating with industry.
