1. About the Event
Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 is a premier nationwide initiative designed to engage students in solving some of the most pressing challenges faced in everyday life. Launched to foster a culture of innovation and practical problem-solving, SIH provides a dynamic platform for students to develop and showcase their creative solutions to real-world problems.
Internal Hackathon for SIH 2025 was organized by SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai on 13th September 2025. The event brought together 2,490 participants in 415 teams, offering an excellent opportunity to showcase innovative solutions to real-world problems. The competition was intense and full of enthusiasm. After a careful evaluation by internal and external panels with Seven Jury Panels, 50 outstanding teams have been shortlisted for the SIH 2025.
Chief Guest
Ms. Vinitha Jacob, Senior Director at OPTUM, delivered the event’s keynote address in the inauguration who emphasized the significance of innovation-driven projects that align with the vision of the Smart India Hackathon, encouraging students to develop impactful and sustainable solutions.
Presidential Address
Dr. M. Sakthi Ganesh, Dean (E&T), SRMIST, Ramapuram, delivered the Presidential Address, appreciating the students’ commitment to problem-solving and innovation, and wished them success in the upcoming SIH 2025.

3. Judging Process, Jury Panel and Judges Information
The esteemed judging panel included experts from various domains such as academia and industry, who evaluated the teams based on their creativity, practicality, and scalability of their ideas.
Initially, 415 teams submitted their ideas based on the SIH–2025 problem statements. These submissions were evaluated during the Round 1 Preliminary Idea Evaluation on 3rd and 4th September 2025, where 224 teams were shortlisted. For Round 2 Prototype Evaluation on 10th September 2025, 116 teams were selected to further develop their solutions.
