SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, HAM club organized an insightful One day Skill Development Webinar on ” Innovation in Undersea Fiber Optic Cable System Around the Globe “, on April 04th, 2025. Mr. K. Nellai Kuamr, Deputy General Manager (Retired 2022), TATA com, gave an insightful talk about industry-oriented knowledge on undersea fiber optic cable systems, their evolution, deployment, and future advancements. Mr. Nellai Kumar worked as deputy manager of TATA com at 2022. He is expert in optical fiber networks. He has more than 25+ year experience in his field. The Webinar was aimed at motivating students to gain knowledge on the latest treats, trends and best practices in Optical fiber systems. The sessions started with a Welcome Address by Dr. Shanmugathammal, Associate Professor, followed by an Introduction about Mr. Nellai Kumar was given by Dr. Ramya G, Associate Professor. Mr. Nellai Kumar, briefed the students regarding the importance of real time applications and implementation of the fiber networks around the world. The session was concluded with vote of thanks given by Dr. Lalitha.
The participants displayed enthusiasm and curiosity, actively engaging in discussions on technological challenges, real-world applications, and future trends. The session provided students with valuable exposure to the role of fiber optics in global communication infrastructure. The webinar was a great success, fulfilling its objective of enhancing students’ understanding of undersea fiber optic networks. The HAM Club plans to organize more such events in the future, providing students with in-depth technical knowledge and industry insights.
