The Faculty of Engineering and Technology at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Ramapuram, Chennai, is organizing a guest lecture to provide valuable insights into research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Participants will gain knowledge about different funding agencies and the application process for securing research grants.
The session will also discuss Institute Research and Development (R&D) and Startup Ecosystem Creation, focusing on building a strong research culture within educational institutions, encouraging innovation, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting startup incubation.
Another key topic is National R&D Priorities, where participants will learn about India’s strategic research focus areas and how research projects can be aligned with national technological and developmental goals.
The lecture will further explore the nuances of proposal writing, providing practical guidance on preparing effective research proposals, presenting ideas clearly, meeting funding agency expectations, and avoiding common mistakes that may reduce the chances of approval.

The guest speaker is Professor T. Ram Prabhu, who serves as Scientist ‘E’ and Joint Director at DRDO, Bengaluru. With extensive experience in defence research, innovation, and project management, he will share valuable insights into research funding, proposal preparation, innovation strategies, and national research priorities.
The primary objective of the guest lecture is to strengthen participants’ understanding of research funding opportunities, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, encourage alignment with national research priorities, and improve proposal writing skills for successful research and development initiatives.
