Synopsis of the Event
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a guest lecture on “Electronics Product Engineering” on September 30th, 2024 for the ECE students.
The event began with an introduction by Dr. R. Vani, Professor, who addressed the gathering and set the tone for the insightful session. Dr. R. Arthi, Associate Professor, felicitated the guest, acknowledging the importance of the topic for the students’ academic and professional growth. Mr. C. Aravindan, Assistant Professor, further briefed the guest and provided context on the relevance of the subject to the current curriculum.
The guest provided the students with an in-depth understanding of the key aspects of electronics product engineering, focusing on Design for Regulatory requirements like system, hardware, software and mechanical. The session was engaging and interactive, allowing students to explore real-world applications of the theoretical concepts they’ve been studying. The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to ask insightful questions, making the experience both informative and thought-provoking.
Following the lecture, there was an enriching faculty interaction with the guest speaker. During this session, topics such as academic and industry collaboration were discussed, including opportunities for internships, placements, and industrial visits for students. These discussions emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future careers.
Key Learnings

Outcomes of a Guest Lecture
- Enhanced Knowledge of Product Engineering: Participants gain a deeper understanding of the end-to-end electronics product engineering process, including design, prototyping, manufacturing, and testing.
- Awareness of Industry Trends: Attendees become familiar with current trends, emerging technologies, and innovations in the field of electronics, such as IoT, embedded systems, and energy-efficient design.
- Application of Theoretical Concepts: Students or professionals can better connect the theoretical knowledge they’ve acquired in courses to practical applications in real-world product development.
- Understanding of Challenges and Solutions: Participants learn about common challenges in electronics product engineering (e.g., supply chain issues, compliance with regulations) and gain insights into how these challenges are addressed by industry experts.
