National Science Day has been celebrated every year on 28th of February. Department of Science and Technology has the theme of National Science Day 2020 as “Women in Science”. To encourage the people, as well as to popularize science and technology, Department of Mathematics arranged a guest lecture for the students and faculty members on 27th February 2020 by a renowned scientist Mrs. Swarna Ramesh, Scientist, CVRDE, DRDO, Avadi, Chennai.
The guest lecture began at 2.00 pm with the welcome address by Dr. Shakeela Sathish, Head, Department of Mathematics. Chief guest discussed about the Women achievers and gender awareness in the field of science, gender equality and steps to bring greater involvement of women in Science and Technology, measures to involve women in the areas of science and to make them take science as a career.
As part of Science day celebrations a “ poster presentation” completion on the theme ”Women in Science” was conducted for the students and Prizes were distributed by the chief guest. Mrs. P. Lalitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics proposed the Vote thanks.
