“On 29th October 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Ramapuram campus, organized an insightful guest lecture titled “Geospatial Technologies for Sustainable Development: The Impact of Total Station and DGPS in Environmental and Civil Engineering.” The guest speaker, Er. Kannan Kumarasamy, Technical General Manager at Allterra Solutions LLP, shared his expertise on the transformative role of geospatial technologies inachieving sustainable development goals within the field of civil engineering.
The session began at 9:00 AM in Gallery Hall 3, Block V, drawing a substantial audience, including B.Tech Civil Engineering students from all four years and M.Tech students with specializations in Structural Engineering and Construction Engineering and Management. The lecture was a success, enriching students’
understanding of advanced geospatial tools and their relevance to sustainable civil engineering practices.
