In light of India’s presidency at the 2023 G20 summit, Campus Life of SRM IST, Faculty of Engineering and Technology organized“G20 Stay Safe Online Campaign” from 20th March to 30th April 2023.
Students from assorted branches of Engineering & Technology, SRM IST,Ramapuram Campus have enthusiastically participated in the G20 Stay Safe Online Campaign.
In light of the foregoing, students expressed their delight to all of us as responsible Indian citizens that our country currently holds the presidency of the prestigious G20.Students declared that education is a priority area for India’s G20 presidency, with an emphasis on core literacy and numeracy, lifelong learning inclusiveness, and collaborative technology that facilitates learning while also enhancing research and innovation via collaboration. In view of the same, the team Campus Life conducted the Stay Safe Online campaign to promote safe and responsible internet usage. Joined us in learning about protecting our privacy, avoiding online scams, and using the internet in a smart and secure way.Many individuals are not aware of the vast amounts of personal information that they share online, from social media profiles to online shopping habits. This information can be collected, analyzed, and used by third parties for various purposes, including targeted advertising, fraud, and identity theft. Also joined us in learning about protecting our privacy, avoiding online scams, and using the internet in a smart and secure way.It is recommended to change passwords regularly, ideally every three to six months, and to enable two-factor authentication wherever possible. Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code or token in addition to a password to access an account. In this regard, the social media handles like posters have been created and circulated widely to all students and faculties through social media (SRM IST, Ramapuram Campus official Instagram, facebook, twitter, linkedin etc..). More than 1500 students and faculties of SRM IST, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai have successfully participated in online quiz on “Secure Social Media Practices” organized by the part of “Stay Safe Online (SSO) Campaign” under India’s G20 Presidency. The campaign is led by Ministry of Electronics &Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and implemented by C-DAC, Hyderabad as part of ISEA Project Phase-II.
