With the understanding of Maxims, to make teaching more effective and systematic, Department of Mathematics, SRMIST, Ramapuram has organized an Expert Talk on “Maxims of Teaching” as part of Teacher’s Day on 04.09.23.

Dr. Latha Rajendran started the session by emphasising the difference between mediocre, good, and superior teacher. She said that every child is endowed with talents within them. It is the foremost responsibility of the teacher to help streamline these talents in order to make the child work towards the development of the country. She emphasized on Inspiring a thirst for knowledge, by leading by example and fostering critical thinking among the students.
Dr. Latha Rajendran classified maxims of Teaching from known to unknown, simple to complex, concrete to abstract, particular to general, whole to part, psychological to logical, induction to deduction, empirical to rational, analysis to synthesis, actual to representative. She elaborated each maxim with suitable situations.
She concluded the session with the need of hour which is to have student friendly approach with response centred training.
Dean (E&T) in his felicitation address mentioned that it is important for every profession to have rules, ethics, and other boundaries to practice that profession with fairness and trust.
Nearly 100 participants attended the session with enthusiasm.
