SUMMARY OF THE EVENT
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, successfully organized a Skill Development Workshop on “Ethics of
Research and IPR Practices” on April 7, 2025. The event aimed to create awareness and cultivate a strong understanding among students and faculty about the importance of ethical research conduct and the fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
Mr. Balaji Ramachandran, CEO of NoobTron Pvt. Ltd., delivered an informative and engaging session covering core aspects of research integrity and IPR regulations. Topics such as plagiarism, data
falsification, citation practices, patent filing, and types of IPR (patents, copyrights, and trademarks) were discussed in detail.
The event commenced with a welcome address, followed by the introduction of the guest speaker.
Mr. Balaji’s session was well-received by the audience, who participated actively in the Q&A
segment. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person and all contributors.
The workshop achieved its objective of sensitizing students toward ethical research and provided clarity on protecting innovations through IPR. The event encouraged future participation in research with a responsible and legal outlook.

- To promote awareness of research ethics and integrity among engineering students.
- To introduce the fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
- To highlight best practices in research methodology and protection of innovations.
