The Department of English and other Foreign Languages, SRMIST, Ramapuram organized a Two Day National Online Workshop on “Deconstructive Reading and Practice” on July 11&12, 2023 between 6p.m and 7.30p.m. for the faculty and the research scholars from various parts of the country.The first dayof the workshop began with the welcome address by the head of the department of EFL, Dr.Rema, and moved on to the engaging lecture by the Resource person Dr. Veeramani, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, Government Arts and Sciences College, Lalgudi, Trichy. He highlighted the various nuances of the much-complicated theory of Deconstruction, and explicated how it can be misleading when applied to the texts. The second day of the workshop turned out to be a practical session exemplifying how a poem can be deconstructed with a real time demonstration and giving tips to involve and experiment in the process. The participants especially the research scholars were grateful to the institution and the department of EFL for such an useful session on contemporary literary theories and the questions posed by them were answered with precision. The session turned out to be interactive and engaging and received very great appreciation from the participants.
