Pongal is celebrated the day on which the sun begins to move northwards is called ‘Makar Shankranti’. In Tamil Nadu this festival is called the Pongal and this period is considered to be auspicious.
As a part of campus life, Pongal celebrations conducted in grand manner on 12.01.2023. The programme was inaugurated with lighting the kuthuvilakku in the presence of Dean(E&T), Dean (Academic), Dean (Research), VP(Academic), HODs and Students.
Celebration started with making the Pongal by all departments. All participants wore traditional costumes and the events began with the boiling of rice in the most traditional manner.
Following this, the offstage competitions like Pongal Cooking, Rangoli, Tug of war, Pot painting, Pot breaking (Uriyadi)have been conducted for students in presence of Dean (Campus Life). Meanwhile, sweet Pongal was distributed to students and faculties. Different mehndi designshave been made to the students hand.
A while later, the onstage events like singing by students, Music, dance performance and silambam have been started with welcome address by Dean (E&T), where students participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their skills and talent.
The contribution by the students towards the programme was immense. All the winners were awarded with certificates by Dean (Campus Life).
