Celebrating Leadership and Responsibility: Investiture Ceremony at SRMIST Ramapuram
The Investiture Ceremony, held on 24th April 2025, at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, was a grand celebration of leadership, responsibility, and student empowerment. It marked a proud moment where the torch of leadership was ceremoniously passed to the new student council, symbolizing trust, honor, and commitment.
The event commenced with second-year student Yosika extending a heartfelt and vibrant welcome to the gathering, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. This was followed by a melodious rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu by a group of talented students, filling the atmosphere with pride, tradition, and solemnity.
Dr. Kuljeet from the Department of English and Foreign Languages then delivered a gracious Welcome Address, warmly acknowledging the esteemed dignitaries — Dean (E&T) Dr. M. Sakthi Ganesh, Asst. Dean Campus Life, Dr. Jean Ida Gunaseeli, Vice President Admin Dr. Balika J Chelliah, Vice President Academics Dr. Subashini, Chairperson Dr. K. Raja, Heads of Departments, and Campus Life Coordinators Dr. S. Visnu Dharshini and Dr. Monika Venkatachalam. Their presence added immense prestige and encouragement to the event, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to nurturing leadership and holistic excellence.
To invoke blessings and light the path ahead, the student emcees invited the dignitaries onto the stage for the traditional Kuthu Vilakku lighting ceremony, symbolizing the triumph of knowledge and wisdom over ignorance.
Adding youthful energy to the proceedings, second-year student Nimalan took the stage to deliver an inspiring speech on the vibrancy of Campus Life at SRMIST, highlighting the diverse opportunities available for leadership development, creativity, and innovation.
A warm and enthusiastic welcome was then extended to the Chief Guest, Mr. Yohaan Manu — an illustrious alumnus of SRMIST Ramapuram, celebrated singer, and former Cultural Secretary. A special felicitation ceremony was held to honor him for his remarkable achievements and enduring contributions to the SRMIST community.
Chairperson Dr. K. Raja delivered a thought-provoking address, emphasizing discipline, collaboration, and innovation as the foundations of effective leadership. This was followed by an inspiring address by the Assistant Dean, who encouraged the student leaders to carry forward the rich legacy of SRMIST with responsibility and vision, reminding them of the impact of leadership grounded in empathy and action.
Chief Guest Mr. Yohaan Manu then captivated the audience with an engaging speech, fondly reminiscing about his journey as the Cultural Secretary. He shared valuable insights on how his experiences at SRMIST shaped his professional growth and instilled in him a lifelong passion for leadership and excellence.
The ceremony proceeded to the Batching Ceremony segment, introduced by Dr. S. Visnu Dharshini, Campus Life Coordinator. The core committee members were invited onto the stage, where they were ceremoniously badged by the dignitaries — an empowering moment marking their formal induction into leadership roles.
Following the batching, newly appointed President Sree Krishna delivered a powerful Presidential Address, motivating his peers to lead with passion, resilience, and a commitment to service. The Vice President then outlined a clear vision and mission for the Campus Life team for the upcoming academic year, inspiring everyone to look ahead with purpose and unity.
To celebrate the achievements of the past year, a vibrant and emotional recap video was played, highlighting the memorable events, milestones, and initiatives of Campus Life during 2024–2025, leaving the audience both nostalgic and energized for the future.
General Secretary Kowshik then delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing deep gratitude to the management, faculty members, dignitaries, student leaders, and the organizing committee for their tireless efforts in making the event a grand success.
As a fitting finale to the day’s proceedings, an interactive one-on-one session was held between the students and the Chief Guest, Mr. Yohaan Manu. Students actively engaged in a lively questioning session, seeking practical advice and insights on leadership, event management, and strategies for enhancing club activities, receiving thoughtful responses and encouragement from the Chief Guest.
