CSE DEVELOPER STUDENT CLUB
ANDROID STUDY JAM
On the 6th of December 2020, the Developer student club conducted “Android study Jam”. The webinar took place on the Google Meet platform and was live streamed on You-tube. Indeed it was a satisfying event.
DATE: 6th December 2020 | TIME: 6 pm -7.30 pm
Venue: Online webinar via Google meet and live streamed on you tube.
The event was launched at 6:05 pm, on the arrival of all registered participants, Ms. Priyanka, team member of DSC SRM IST Ramapuram Campus acted as the host for the full session.
Ms.Divyanshi, team member of DSC SRM IST Ramapuram Campus started with an engaging introductory session on DSC SRM IST Ramapuram Campus, describing the various accomplishments and activities that are being carried out. The audience was described to simulate the curiosity of the different decorum that had to be maintained and the Android study Jam was flagged off by the introduction of the speakers Mr Krishnan and Mr Abhinavanan Roy of third year CSE.
With great passion and motivation, Mr. Krishnan started the informative walk through the 2 months event proceedings, starting from the list of software needed, how to install them, the dashboard overview, steps to obtain virtual badges on the working platform to the full do’s and don’ts of the study jam. Mr. Abinavan took over the session, taking the audience through the fundamentals of Kotlin, after Mr. Krishnan’s insightful session. Through his distinctive approaches to them, various fundamental topics such as data types, variables and conditional statements and twisty topics such as functions and classes and objects were made simple.
The walkthrough of the Android studio application was the other part of the session. The audience was given a Hands on Demo of the application by walking them through the available templates, the files present, how to use the AVD manager, modifying the view and view groups that actually engaged the audience in trying it out themselves. Finally, with the aid of the Android studio and Kotlin, a step-by step demonstration on how to create the hello world app was seen. Different doubts and myths were broken by the duo speakers towards the final part of the session and more guidance on how to proceed and the app competition was mentioned before the session ended.
A total of 150 students from both platforms participated in the workshop. The audience’s enthusiastic reaction was a great boon. We were pleased to note that we both began punctually and were able to comfortably wrap up. The unyielding efforts of our club members were fundamental in bringing this event to fruition. Truly, it inspires us to carry out several more such practices.
