A Brief Report:
The Department of EEE, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (E&T), Ramapuram Campus organized a five days International Seminar Series on ‘Electric Vehicles – Exploring Inside the Box” from 30th January 2023 to 3rd February 2023. Around 246 external participants and 20 internal participants including Faculty members, Research scholars, PG, UG students and Industry Professionals of various organizations across the world had participated in the seminar. The sessions were very interactive throughout. The Eminent speakers at the event were,
- Dr. Vigneswaran Dhasarathan, Senior Scientist, University of Hradec, Kralove, Czech
- Dr. Varsha Ajit Shah, Department of Electrical Engineering, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Ichchhanath, Surat – 395007 (Gujarat), INDIA.
- Dr. Chinmaya K A, Department of Electrical Engineering IIT (BHU), Varanasi
- Dr. Keshri Ritesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Sr. Member IEEE. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.
- Dr.S.Prabhu, Founder & Director, RLE Motors, Cuddalore
The online program was graced by the presence of Dr. M. Murali Krishna (Dean – E&T, SRMIST RMP) and Dr. K.N.Srinivas (HoD/EEE). The program was convened by Dr. U.Arun Kumar (AP/EEE) and Dr.S.Saravanan (AP/EEE).

The Inaugural session of International Seminar started at 1.30 PM on 30th January 2023, with the best wishes from invited dignitaries. The first session was by Dr. Vigneswaran Dhasarathan, who introduced the audience to the overview of research on EV impact and its future prospects. The presentation covered very informative material on and the participants were also exposed to Mode Division Multiplexing Scheme for Vehicular Communication to Mitigate Internet Work Traffic.





Dr. Varsha Ajit Shah, who was the speaker for the second day showered light on the various research aspects of Electric Vehicles. She also covered the importance of Electric Vehicle, future trends and basic terminologies. Topics like battery pack manufacturing process along with its safety aspects, testing and certifications were emphasized on the second day



r. S. Prabhu, Founder & Director, RLE Motors, Cuddalore – the speaker of 3rd day session of International Seminar Series introduced the concepts of RLE motors, Hybrid Motors and Special Electrical Machines to the audience. He also covered the aspects of Special Machines in the field of Electric Vehicles and it was an eye opener for the participants. The resource person presented very informative material about Electric Motors used for EV applications including the design aspects and challenges.


Dr. Chinmaya K A, Department of Electrical Engineering IIT (BHU) – the speaker of 4th day session of International Seminar Series introduced the Concepts Chargers and Motors in E-Vehicles – Perspective for Electrical Engineers to the audience. He also covered the topics like Non-isolated onboard chargers, single stage onboard chargers and Onboard Integrated chargers used in Electric Vehicles and it was an eye opener for the participants. The resource person presented very informative material with the practical implementation of Cuk Converter and its requirements for an Integrated charger along with the results and discussion



Dr. Keshri Ritesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Sr. Member IEEE. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology – the speaker of Day 5 of International Seminar Series introduced the basic Concepts E-Vehicles – Perspective for Electrical Engineers and the charging systems to the participants.. He also covered the topics of current research and development activities in the field of Electric Vehicles, Traction systems and Microgrids and the session was an eye opener for all the participants. The resource person presented very informative material with the practical implementation of charging systems integrated with E-Vehicles along with a detailed results and discussion.


Following the presentation, the question & answer session was followed by the students, research scholars and the faculty members. The program was concluded with the valedictory function on the 5th day at 3.00 PM. Snapshots from the event are attached herewith.
